Solaia lies in the Chianti region, just a few kilometres from Florence. Immersed in the green of the countryside but also close to the city, Solaia is a perfect base from which to explore and visit Tuscany. Florence is within a short (15 minutes) drive, or a 30 minutes trip by bus. The city of Siena is only about an hour away by car, and can be reached via one of the most scenic roads in the region, the ‘Via Chiantigiana’ (SR222). The road winds across the Chianti region, connecting all of its main centres, e.g. Greve in Chianti, Panzano in Chianti, Radda in Chianti, Castellina.
Our agriturismo occupies the premises of an old farm called Solaia. The main building is now divided into two apartments, one occupied by the owners and the other, named ‘Cresciolo’, rented as a holiday home. The adjoining barn, built in the early 19th century, has been renovated in the spring of 2016 and now houses a modern studio flat, ‘I Casotti’, accommodating up to two people.
The farmhouse has been established recently. In addition to the traditional production of olive oil, typical of the Chianti region, since two years ago we have embarked on apiculture, by which we have been inevitably fascinated. Beekeeping and the production of honey is gradually becoming a priority for our farm, a project about which we are passionate and enthusiastic.
